Friday, March 9th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $2.726, three cents below Thursday’s closing price of $2.756. Despite wintry conditions covering much of the east coast, the contract can’t argue with the fact that spring is less than two weeks away, and with the end of withdrawal season in site short-term increased demand may face an uphill battle as we head further into the shoulder month. Seesawing along $2.735 through 10:00AM, prices soon rose to mark the intraday high of $2.746 at 10:30AM. Trending lower by midday, April proceeded to close lower on Friday at $2.732.
This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 51 cents; Natural Gas was up five cents; Heating Oil was down two cents; and, Gasoline was down two cents.
