Wednesday, April 20th saw the May NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at an intraday high of $7.324, about 15 cents above Tuesday’s closing price of $7.176. Prices fell steadily after open, tumbling towards an intraday low of $6.791 at 11:40AM. Prices rebounded off the low into the afternoon, closing out the day at $6.937.
The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report is due out on Thursday at 10:30AM. The report is expected to show a 50 BCF injection to storage for the week ended April 15. This compares to a 41 BCF injection at this time last year and a five-year average injection amount of 42 BCF.
As of 10:05AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $2.12; Natural Gas was up 8 cents; Heating Oil was down 8 cents; and Gasoline was up 4 cents.
