January NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts Closed at $3.528 on Monday, December 17th

Monday, December 17th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $3.681, nearly fifteen cents below Friday’s closing price of $3.827.  Continuing Friday’s freefall over the weekend as above average temperatures are forecasted to cover most of the country in the next two weeks, a momentary jump to the intraday high of $3.742 near 9:00AM soon gave way to additional selling.  Finding support near $3.660 ahead of noon, prices proceeded to decline further into the day, marking a near six-week intraday low of $3.516 at 1:00PM and again at 2:20PM, January closed lower on Monday at $3.528.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down $1.06; Natural Gas was up 16 cents; Heating Oil was down two cents; and Gasoline was down three cents.
