Tuesday, August 7th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $2.879, two cents above Monday’s closing price of $2.860. Adding to Monday’s gains, an early jump above $2.890 by 9:30AM then saw prices step hesitantly higher through the day. Backed by concerns of low inventory levels, the contract rose to nearly a six-week intraday high of $2.900 at 2:10PM, as September closed higher on Tuesday at $2.897.
This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 92 cents; Natural Gas was up two cents; Heating Oil was down one cent; and, Gasoline was down three cents. Additionally, cash prices were higher in New York and lower in New England.
