Monday, February 12th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $2.550, three cents below Friday’s closing price of $2.584. Continuing last week’s downward trend in pre-market trading, the contract stabilized as markets opened and even managed to post modest gains. Rising to the intraday high of $2.586 ahead of midday, prices gradually returned to the $2.56 mark by 2:30PM. Plagued by a continued lack of fundamental support and reports of production holding steady, March closed lower on Monday at $2.552.
This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 54 cents; Natural Gas was up seven cents; Heating Oil was down one cent; and, Gasoline was down two cents.
