Friday, February 2nd saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $2.878, two cents above Thursday’s closing price of $2.856. In an uneventful session compared to recent trading days, prices entered the day in a downward trend to find the intraday low of $2.840 by 9:50AM before rising modestly. Recovering to reach as high as $2.878 shortly after 11:00AM, the contract fluctuated within a two-cent range for the balance of the day as the market weighed short- and long-term weather forecasts. March closed lower on Friday at $2.846.
This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 37 cents; Natural Gas was down five cents; Heating Oil was down two cents; and, Gasoline was down one cent.
