Wednesday, March 12th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $4.236, down $0.217 compared to Tuesday’s closing price of $4.453. Trending lower overnight in response to warming weather forecasts, the contract recorded an intraday high of $4.245 by 9:15AM. Descending gradually throughout the session as traders prepare for a seasonally light storage pull, prices fell to the intraday low of $4.075 ahead of 2:30PM. April closed lower on Wednesday at $4.084.
The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report is due out Thursday at 10:30AM. The report is expected to show a 48 BCF withdrawal from storage for the week ended March 7. This compares to a 9 BCF withdrawal this time last year and a five-year average withdrawal amount of 56 BCF.
As of 7:05AM this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down $0.220; Natural Gas was up $0.026; Heating Oil was down $0.003; and Gasoline was flat.
