Monday, March 16th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.809, six cents below Friday’s closing price of $1.869. This followed a weekend decline that was likely impacted by fears of lower demand due to schools and businesses shutting down amid coronavirus worries. Tallying an intraday low of $1.794 at 9:40AM, prices rose to an intraday high of $1.845 by 12:40PM. Shedding a few cents as the afternoon came to a close, April finished lower on Monday at $1.815.
As of 8:35AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up ten cents; Natural Gas was down two cents; Heating Oil was up one cent; and Gasoline was up four cents.
