March NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $1.841 on Friday, January 31st

Friday, January 31st saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.836, nearly four cents above Thursday’s closing price of $1.829.  Stepping down to an intraday low of $1.831 within minutes of the opening bell, prices crept slowly higher until reaching an intraday high of $1.856 at 10:50AM.  Trading within this tight band for the balance of the day, any extended periods of below-average temperatures remain questionable as March closed lower on Friday at $1.841, down 2.7% on the week.

As of 8:45AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down ten cents; Natural Gas was up three cents; Heating Oil was down two cents; and Gasoline was up slightly.
