Tuesday, September 4th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures open at $2.857, six cents below Friday’s closing price of $2.916. Experiencing volatility within the opening hour, prices dropped as low as $2.835 early on before surging to an intraday high of $2.874 at 9:40AM. Posting steady losses from here, the contract diminished further into the day despite Hurricane Gordon threatening to disrupt production in the Gulf of Mexico. Sinking to a one-month intraday low of $2.821 ahead of 2:30PM, September closed lower on Tuesday at $2.823.
This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 90 cents; Natural Gas was up one cent; Heating Oil was down one cent; and, Gasoline was down two cents.
