February NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts Closed at $3.505 on Friday, January 26th

Friday, January 26th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $3.466, two cents above Thursday’s closing price of $3.447.  Stepping higher to reach above $3.540 ahead of 10:00AM, updated forecasts for early February had traders betting on increased demand to start the month.  Posting a staggered ascent into the morning to cross midday near $3.550, following a bout of selling, the contract surged higher to reach the intraday high of $3.611 at 1:40PM.  Losing ground over the following hour, February proceeded to close higher on Friday at $3.505.  Additionally, the March contract closed nearly cents higher at $3.175.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 46 cents; Natural Gas was down 15 cents; Heating Oil was down three cents; and, Gasoline was down slightly.
