January NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $2.700 on Friday, December 18th

Friday, December 18th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.677, four cents above Thursday’s closing price $2.636.  Trading along either side of $2.690 for the majority of the day, prices rose to an intraday high of $2.720 at 11:00AM and fell to an intraday low of $2.666 at 1:50PM.  Recording a higher high and a higher low than the previous session would indicate bullish pressure, but it could all be for not if forecasts turn mild.  The January contract closed higher on Friday at $2.700, up 4% on the week.

As of 6:55AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down $2.48; Natural Gas was down four cents; Heating Oil was down six cents; and Gasoline was down six cents.
