Friday, August 14th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.228, a penny above Thursday’s closing price of $2.182. Ascending from the intraday low of $2.227 within minutes of the opening bell, prices surged throughout the morning to reach $2.320 by 10:00AM and an eight-month intraday high of $2.379 at 11:40AM. Likely supported by short covering as demand rose week over week, the contract traded sideways to close out the day. September closed higher Friday at $2.356.
As of 7:30AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down eight cents; Natural Gas was up one cent; Heating Oil was down one cent; and Gasoline was up two cents.
