March NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts Closed at $2.796 on Tuesday, February 26th

On Tuesday, February 26th – settlement day for the March contract – the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts opened at $2.885, five cents above Monday’s closing price of $2.836.  Marking the intraday high of $2.890 by 9:20AM, prices trended lower as the day drew on.  Recording the intraday low of $2.816 at 2:00PM, the March contract settled higher on Tuesday at $2.855.  The more heavily traded April Contract followed a similar pattern though, closing roughly two cents lower at $2.796.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $1.16; Natural Gas was down five cents; Heating Oil was up two cents; and Gasoline was up two cents.  Additionally, cash prices were mixed in New York and lower in New England.
