July NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts Closed at $2.939 on Tuesday, June 12th

Tuesday, June 12th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $2.972, roughly two cents above Monday’s closing price of $2.949.  Despite expectations for above-average temperatures to cover much of the country in the latest forecast, a momentary jump to the intraday high of $2.973 soon gave way to selling as the contract fell to the intraday low of $2.917.  Clawing its way higher from there, extended periods of cooling demand may be needed to support prices hovering below $3.00, even with the notably low inventory levels.  July closed lower on Tuesday at $2.939.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 39 cents; Natural Gas was up two cents; Heating Oil was down one cent; and, Gasoline was unchanged.
