January NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $2.328 on Friday, December 20th

Friday, December 20th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.319, nearly five cents above Thursday’s closing price of $2.273.  Ascending to an intraday high of $2.336 by 9:20AM, prices then trended downward as the $2.30 level proved supportive.  Marking an intraday low of $2.305 at 11:50AM, indifferent weather forecasts have left markets searching for direction.  Fluctuating on either side $2.320 as the afternoon drew on, January closed higher on Friday at $2.328, up 1.5% on the week.

As of 8:45AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up six cents; Natural Gas was down ten cents; Heating Oil was up slightly; and Gasoline was unchanged.
