Industrial Fuel Oils

Sprague serves a wide variety of industrial-based customers with a range of industrial fuel oils, including #4, #5, or #6 oils.

  • Density, or API gravity
  • Viscosity (#4 oil the lightest fuel, to #6 oil the heaviest)
  • Sulfur (We offer a wide range of sulfur levels from 0.5% to 2.0%)

Sprague industrial customers include:

  • Hospitals
  • Colleges
  • Power plants
  • Paper mills
  • Textile mills
  • Heavy manufacturing

Sulfur levels are generally a function of the entity’s air permit, which regulates onsite air emissions.

Most industrial customers choose to purchase fuel oil on a delivered basis.  Sprague contracts for freight and delivers the fuel to the customer’s tank.  The freight is generally included in the price of the fuel, providing the customer with a “one-stop shop” experience.  To increase flexibility in offerings to industrial customers, Sprague offers several possible pricing methods.  These can include:

  • Daily rack price offering
  • Indexed price
  • Fixed forward pricing
  • Combination of fixed and indexed pricing

In addition to the above price offerings, Sprague works one-on-one with industrial customers to provide tailor-made supply / price agreements.
